Production

As a producer and sound engineer, the local artists that I have worked with have been very happy with the fantastic sounding recordings I have produced and the level of professionalism that I approach my work with. I have experience in recording, mixing, mastering and production roles and often handle all of these roles for a project. I have created EPs and singles for local singer-songwriters, bands and composers and have also worked on commercial advertisement projects. I have three years experience as a professional music producer and have worked on dozens of projects in that time. This experience is backed by studying a Bachelor of Music through University of Newcastle with a major in Creative Production, and by years of working on recordings of my own material prior to that. You can hear some examples of my work below.

“Chemicals” is a track from Newcastle singer songwriter Jeremy Bilson’s 2017 EP “Fingerprints”. I produced this EP for Jeremy as well as his 2015 debut EP “Head Above Water”. You can check out more of Jeremy’s work at www.facebook.com/jeremybilsonmusic/. Here is what Jeremy has to say about working together:

Kyle Rhoades is not only an experienced producer and musician but goes above and beyond in all he does within his profession. On all occasions I’ve witnessed, the results of his work have reached above expectations and I am so happy that I trusted the quality of my music endeavours with him. If your project or performance includes Kyle, you will without a doubt not be disappointed.” – Jeremy Bilson

This is an excerpt from “Anima”, a composition from Newcastle based composer and sound artist James Maher featuring Sarah Monk on Flute. I have worked on a number of projects with James, who is particularly interested in spatial sound practices in both music and art, and the notion of community interaction and involvement in the composition process. His musical output includes various chamber, symphonic and choral works, soundscapes and electronic music.

“Surfing Wolf” is a track from Newcastle based psych-punk band The Med Heads 2017 EP “Yeah Nah Nah, Not Today…”, which I produced with recording assistance from Sam Rush and mixing assistance from Dhare Labbe. This entire EP was recorded to 8-track analog tape over two days, mixed in analog and later digitally mastered. You can check out more of our work at www.facebook.com/themedheads/.
